The Gardens Early Childhood Centre

The Gardens needed three clearly defined spaces – one for the under-ones, one for the under-twos and one for the two and over age group. Numat delivered and installed a range of surfacing materials along with sandpit covers and sunshade, providing a complete project management service for the site.

The Gardens needed three clearly defined spaces – one for the under-ones, one for the under-twos and one for the two and over age group.

Micha Brown, the Centre’s Managing Director, knew the geography of the site presented a challenge however.

“It was a tricky job due to the different elevation of the land and the different uses of this space required,” she says. “ It took a lot of discussions and there were many different ideas thrown around.”

Numat delivered and installed a range of surfacing materials along with sandpit covers and sunshade, providing a complete project management service for the site.

Micha says, “the project team did a fantastic job on a challenging site.”

“Numat came up with a great solution. Quick, straight to the point and willing to help with everything, they’ve come up with something that works really well.”

When first scoping out the area we needed to analyse how we were going to make this space more usable. It had a big drop off on the section which initially we considered leveling, but then decided to actually build it up, really changing the feel of the landscape.

The size of the new tunnel helped change the whole dynamic of how it was used.  It delivers so much more than the old-fashioned crawl spaces. The long timber tunnel means the children can now comfortably ride their bikes through – it’s an adventure for them and a good asset for the preschool.  Most importantly, it made the best use of the land.

Half of the under twos area was a big sloping bank so Numat actually made this a little higher, allowing more interaction with the flat and the sloped area.
